Wake up and smell the fart!
This is 100% educational. (Not really, lol) Take a deep breath and jump in!
Well, maybe not exactly100%. We just to have some fun.
My #1 question is, are we inhaling tiny molecules of poop when we smell a fart?
We do. Sorry. In fact, any smell or taste you ever experience is caused by the particles of that object entering your mouth or nose in large enough quantities to trigger a sensory response. So when you smell a fart you are inhaling some of the particles that were emitted.
A closer examination revealed the bacteria were typically found only in the intestines and on the skin deep inside of us.
Turns out, if someone farts naked near your nose, you could actually inhale bacteria contained in airborne, bacteria-laden droplets of poop.
Note, however, that you’re not inhaling poop feces, just gas. (In any case, Popular Science points out that there are poop bacteria everywhere, but only a small minority of it could ever make you sick).
