Hurricanes are predictable, but not. — They can get froggy!

I have lived in Florida for about 30 years. In central Florida, near Orlando, these hurricanes usually lose strength when they hit land.

Hurricanes are actually good for the Earth. Really!

Hurricanes can bring sand and nutrients from the bottom of the ocean to barrier islands. The sand and nutrients allow the islands to get restored and not shrink and sink. Hurricanes can also be helpful to plants. As tropical systems move onshore, the winds can blow spores and seeds further inland than normal.

Hurricane Ian is hitting now here in Florida!

Lots of rain is a given. Right now, at 9:51 here at my house, no wind.

But hurricane Ian, just land down south, near Tampa.

Evon, a Medium writer who lives in Tampa where the hurricane first entered Florida, is safe and hunkered down. — I checked on her.
