It seems to be confusing. Why? They look the same. They smell the same!

Do hemp and weed look the same?

Hemp plants and marijuana plants are both the same species. Legally, hemp is defined as a cannabis plant that contains 0.3 percent or less THC, while marijuana is a cannabis plant that contains more than 0.3 percent THC.

They are essentially the exact same, visually, and often need to be chemically analyzed to tell the difference.

One poor trucker found out the hard way! The cops arrested him for transporting marijuana.

Rolling into the East Boise Point of Entry weigh station on January 24, Denis Palamarchuck’s tractor-trailer was stopped by an Idaho state trooper to conduct a routine inspection. A very common thing for truckers.

Denis was actually hauling a shit load of hemp, which is legal and cannot get someone high.

The truck’s bill of lading listed the goods being hauled as hemp. Hemp is used to making a bunch of commercial and industrial stuff, including rope, textiles, clothing, shoes, food, paper, bioplastics, insulation, and biofuel.
