Cure for hiccups. 100%. No joke …. Short n sweet.
When I got hiccups as a kid, I was told to hold my breath.
It didn’t work.
Why do we hiccup?
Hiccups are caused by involuntary contractions of your diaphragm — the muscle that separates your chest from your abdomen and plays an important role in breathing. The involuntary contraction causes your vocal cords to close very briefly, which produces the characteristic sound of a hiccup.
I’m not a doctor. Just a mom who found the cure by trial and error.
I once read that eating a spoonful of sugar would end a round of hiccups. After a few spoons of sugar, the hiccups did go away, It kinda worked, or maybe they just went away on their own.
Next, I heard that if you bend over at the waste and drink water from a glass upside down from the other side of the glass, it would cure hiccups.
That did work, but what a hassle.
So now, drum roll please …
Drink water from a glass but don’t swallow.
Then bend over at the waist and swallow upside down. It instantly unlodges the air bubbles in your tummy and bye-bye hiccups! Because you are upside down the air bubbles just disappear.
Inan Elvis voice, “Thank you, thank you very much”.
